Teresa Turikan is a painter and installation artist working on how meaning is transmitted between humans beyond obvious formats of communication: through material, form, body and ritual. She is a Taiwanese Australian based in Paris.
Her work begins with Pazeh and asks what survives when a transmission system reaches its threshold. Painting is the root of the practice, where she developed her own visual language by deconstructing traditional chinese characters into totems. Space and movement are the medium extensions she uses when the question needs them.
Her first solo exhibition Lost Totems took place in Paris in June 2026. In September 2026 she created a sculpture installation and movement score at Domaine de Boisbuchet. She took part in the European Cultural Academy’s professional art development programme during the Venice Biennale 2024. Before turning to art full time she spent over a decade working in the luxury industry's Maisons. She also runs The Ritual Layer, an independent practice in cultural experience and transmission design.
